Head Women’s Soccer Coach – University of Mary Washington
Scott Gerseny has been named as the head coach of the women's soccer program at the University of Mary Washington, according to Interim Athletic Director Patrick Catullo. Gerseny comes to Fredericksburg from Washington and Jefferson College, where served as head coach in 2018.
"We look forward to having Scott join the UMW Athletics family to be the next head coach of the women's soccer program and continue the team's long tradition of excellence", said Catullo. "Coach Gerseny's experience and proven coaching ability will be a great asset to the team and the department."
Gerseny guided Washington and Jefferson to a 9-9-2 overall record, which included a 6-2 mark in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference games in 2018. In just his first season, Gerseny directed the Presidents to a PAC Tournament berth and a bid into the ECAC Tournament.
Prior to Washington and Jefferson, Coach Gerseny was the Associate Head Coach at James Madison University from 2012-2017. The Dukes won the 2015 CAA Championship and the 2013 Regular Season CAA Championship. Under Gerseny two players were drafted into the NWSL and one player was invited to the U23 US National Team.
Before JMU, Gerseny coached at Towson University as the Associate Head Coach from 2008-2012. At Towson the program achieved the best record ever in conference and had the first All-Region player awarded.
